LS5 Camshaft
I am looking for a replacment camshaft for my '70 454/390.
Searched through the archives and found quite a bit about cams, but nothing about a direct replacement(stock).
Is it possible to get a direct replacement? Is there a better cam that delivers similar performace on HP/TQ (390/500)? As far as I can tell, the specs for stock are H, Lift 461/480, Duration 350/352, ration 1.7.
For the most part I am good at making repairs. I can follow the procedures without a problem. (also have built up a nice tool set). But I get lost when trying to understand technical specs. So, of course, my usual decision is to stick with stock.

Here are two cams that will make more power with the same idle and drivability as stock:

The second cam is more money but has a newer design and makes better power.
You should also replace your valve springs.
