There is a car care section of the forum that would be the best place to pose your question. Lots of knowledge there. Pose the question and I'll see if I can answer it.

Mothers makes a nice clay bar kit that you can buy at any Auto Zone or similar store. It comes with the spray detailer to keep it moist as you move the clay bar over the surface. The most important thing you can do is to make sure you keep the surface well lubricated. If you rub a clay bar over a dry surface it will scratch the paint. Keep knurling the clay bar. Flip it over and squeeze it to keep the portion you are moving over the surface as clean and free of contaminants as you can. It will really provide you with a clean surface ready for your favorite polish or wax. I prefer the Zaino line of products. After claying I would use Zaino Z6 then Z2 then Z8. They are very easy to use. Good luck. Make sure you wash the car well before you start with the clay bar.

You can wash your car with Dawn Dishwashing Liquid in order to remove most of the wax. Just don't use it after you have clayed it and waxed it. The Dawn will remove the wax you put on. Get your car as clean as possible and if you drop your clay bar on the garage or on the driveway, throw it away and get another new clay bar. Also, be very very careful with it around the wheel openings.

Wash the car with a diluted mixture with DAWN dishwashing liquid soap and this will strip the old wax off and you are good to go.
