I am not ripping on you. I am adding to the conversation.

I happen to agree with you.

Sorry, The Scat 4340 forged unit would be fine for this application.

Mr Vizard is also a tuning genius, which is going to have alot to do with reliability. The best tuner in any of our towns does not have the knowledge he does. With that said, I've had a few Scat 9000 cranks balanced and the machine shops are always pleased with how easily they balanced. You can run alot of rpms with a good balance job-which builds power. With THAT said, I don't think I would run a 200hp nitrous shot on a cast crank. Build a better motor that will produce more power and go with a small shot of nitrous.

I'm for plastic crank, rod , pistons, just think how light and
inexpensive they would be.

Why not! They have plastic intake manifolds now. It just might be The next big thing in automotive technology! EDIT: Hmmm,,, maybe carbon fiber???

Knowing something about carbon fiber, and polymers, I dont think they would take the torsional force very well.

But I think it would be pretty freakin sweet if we did have the technology to make a polymer motor.

Not yet but you see the advances in the last 10 years in technology and material. The new carbon fiber half shafts take a lot of abuse. I was really just joking but in ten years we will see new materials used for a whole lot of applications we would laugh at today. Like I said who would have thought 20 years ago we would have plastic intakes!
