Car Starting Problems! HELP!
HI,
this car has been giving us all kinda problems now...
alright...so we just had this major brake problem with not being able to get pressure behind the brake pedal when the vette was started. so finally after going through and ending up replacing the whole brake system including the lines, we go to start it up again to check for pressure and it doesnt start... it will fire off for about 5 seconds and then die on us. then when it is able to maintain an idol for some time the minute the gas is touched, the car dies. now we had pieced together a rodchestor carb from many rodchestor carbs and it ran great only idoled a bit high. So in attempt to solve the problem right away (and in need of a new carb anyway instead of our pieced together one) we bought a remanufactured rodchester to only have the same problem!!
however we were somehow able to find the magic spot at one point and then to go and turn off the car.. only to find... IT WONT TURN OFF! and it still wants to run as i have the keys in my hand! so finally killed it through advancing the timing and now we are back to square 1 again.... with the car seeming unable to idol properly no matter the timing setting we have.
and oh ya.. we still arnt sure about the brake problem yet either...

okay so the cause has been traced back to the distributor. all the parts were replaced but apparently some part of it went bad. (tried another distrubutor and it now runs) but this is only one of many problems...
