You will have to shorten the master cyl rod by exactly one inch. I cut and then threaded and used a 3/8 all thread connector to hook together plus have some adjustment if I needed, but I did not need any.
Brett,
The only thing you need from a salvage yard is the bellhousing. I used one from an 85 one ton chevy truck; I don't know what engine it had but engine size does not matter. The clutch fork should come with the bellhousing. You will need an adjustable pivot stud for the clutch fork so you can adjust it to make sure the clutch releases. Any auto store should have them. You do not want used master and slave cylinders buy them new. I went to NAPA and bought both cylinders and had them match the fittings I needed to an 18 inch long steel brake line and bought everything from them. I also went to a salvage yard and got a hydraulic resevoire that fits a honda civic for $5.00. I hope this helps you!

Bernie, Once again your a big help. Do you have any pics of the remote resevoire and hookup? What car did you tell them the master and slave cylinders were for at NAPA? remember how much that visit to NAPA cost? I assume you also had to thread and shorten your MC rod by 1 inch, right? what type of line did you use for the resevoire?
TexasRanger, trying to visualize in my head before I make the purchase, how do you know how much to shorten the MC rod? and how to know when it is adjusted to where it needs to be?
68 NJ Conv 454,
I will have to post a pic of the resevoire when I get home tonight. I installed it on the right side of the brake booster on the firewall and used a piece of rubber hose I bought at NAPA (about 12 inches long and fittings) to install. I asked for a master cylinder and slave cylinder for a 1985 one ton chevy truck with a 350 V8 engine. While you are there get them to match the fittings you need to an 18 inch steel brake line and you will be in business. When I installed the master cylinder I test fit the master, holding the rod next to the clutch pedal to see where it needed cutting. I bought a clevis that had the same deminsion as the rod on the pedal but you can make a bushing to fit the hole in the rod already on the master cyl if you want. There are several ways to attach it to the pedal.

I hooked the master cyl to the fire wall and measured how far I need to cut to make it fit. One Inch exactly. I threaded both ends and used a 3/8 all thread adaptor to hook together. Next time I will weld it.
I used the conversion kit from Novack systyem to convert a jeep to chevy.
The problem I had was the clutch fork provided and I had to use it in the conversion hit the floor pan beside the gas pedel and I had to cut a hole about 1x3 inches and then mold a new piece to cover it . Pain in the butt, but it works nice now.
I am working on a conversion for my 69 vette using a 84-88 vette bellhousing, fork and slave cyl, with the 85-89 chevy 1 ton master cyl that I think will be the final solution. Finding an old or new bellhousing from the old chevy 1 ton, I could not. I will let you know as soon as all the parts come in if this is a better system.
Here is a picture of the remote hydraulic clutch resevoire I used. A remote resevoire from any car should work just as good. This one was cheap and readily available.
Is there a specific reason to how it should be mounted? Obviously above the master and slave, but can it be off to the side or does it rely on gravity to feed the effectively?
I'm having a tuff time finding an 85 1 ton chevy bellhousing too.
That and the rod/clevis are my only concerns otherwise I have a good plan thanks to this forum.

What websites do you guys use to find used parts?
Here, call these people:
Light Truck Parts - Portland, OR - 1-800-452-8004
They have a bellhouse for an '85 for $45 + Shipping.
It's part # 408JRB
If that doesn't pan out I have a whole list of option for you.
I use the salvage yards locally for what I need. Any bellhousing that fits a chevy 350 will work, you just might have to make a bracket and that isn't hard to do either. When calling about a bellhousing make sure they know you want one with the slave cylinder bracket molded as a part of the housing if they have it. I have a coupling Norval made for me to connect the master clutch rod together after you cut and thread both ends if you want it and if that is how you do it.

Are there any years or models to avoid as far as the bellhouse goes?
I don't know of a "bad" bellhousing for the 350. If you are packing gobs of horsepower you may want to go to a scattershield version incase the clutch explodes on you. But any bellhousing that will bolt to the engine will work.

I have a few closed circle networks that cater to body shops and repair facilities that won't usualyl sell to the public.
He's going out to look at the bellhousing, its on a truck.
The Part # you gave me in the truck #, not the bellhousing part # so he tells me. He has a truck listed as TC7215.
He also claims 85's didn't come with a hyd clutch, so he's going to look at it and call me back.
