anyone know what flywheel i need to use to run my zz4 motor?
my car is a 78 4spd vette with a warner tranny,
can i use my existing flywheel and same clutch and pressure plate or is their some kind of conversion i have to do?
some research i've done says the flywheel has a weight on it,the one off my 78 doesn't have a weight on it,
is the zz4 motor an internally or externally balanced motor
You need the flywheel for a late model Gen I SBC with the one piece rear main seal. These have the balance weight and 3.00" bolt circle vice the 3.58" bolt circle for the older small blocks. http://www.sdpc2000.com/catalog/3181...-Flywheels.htm
GM part number 10105832 is a 14" flywheel, 10105832 is a lightweight 12-3/4" flywheel. Edit to add 14088650 is the normal 12-3/4" flywheel.
You can reuse the clutch but a new one is cheap insurance while you have the drivetrain apart. You may need to change the clutch anyway based on what size you have for what flywheel. The 14" flywheel is drilled for an 11" or 11.85" clutch bolt circle. The 12.75" requires a 10.4" clutch and the lightweight flywheel requires a 10" clutch.
If you change flywheel size, you will need a new starter as well.
thanks alot ,i have 26 spline on my tranny input shaft,i have only found clutch sets with 10 splines.
Go to Summit or Jegs, lots of 26 spline clutch kits in all different sizes. Don't buy performance parts from a Corvette dealer unless you like paying a 30% markup.
