Default Corvette Mike's

I would like to get peoples experiences with Corvette Mike's.
May be taking a trip to the Chicago shop to look at a couple of cars & would like to know what to expect.

Moved to general section.

Thanks,

Scott

Dunno Corvette Mike from anyone, BUT in general.....

all those vette only 'dealers' are way in hell overpriced to the point of making brand name authorized dealerships look good.....

like your loca Lexus/Caddy/Chevy stealership....

Corvette Mike has been around for a long time. Did not know they were in Chi town. There are east and left coast locations too. Never heard bad about them. Never dealt with them. Waaaay toooooo hiiiiiiigh. But, you can probably get an NCRS 90 or 95 point car right off the showroom floor. I guess it depends on where you want to put your money.

Scott...

I visited Mike's Anaheim, California showroom more than 10 years ago... In fact he had one of Callaway's then new speedsters in his showroom at the time (1991?). His showroom was filled with very nice and very high quality cars, and the prices were commensurate.

I have known a few folks over the years that have purchased cars from him and the only complaint I have heard was regarding the price. Not one of them would question the quality of the car they bought or the service they received... but each of them felt they paid top dollar for their cars. I personally think they got exactly what they paid for, with no surprises and no, "oh gee, we didn't know it wasn't originally a big block" stories. Just excellent cars that were well represented.

Good luck... but bring lots of money...

I purchased a C3 whose owner consigned the car to the Anaheim shop. Since I am not qualified to evaluate Corvettes, I took it to Corvette Mike for a pre-sale inspection. The inspection was cursory at best. They said that they put it up on the lift and inspected the car front to back, top to bottom. Only two problems were reported; timing cover crankshaft seal, and front bushings needed to be replaced. There was no written report given.

Long story short, I discovered after the sale that they missed a lot. Fortunately, none were serious enough to dump the car, i.e. bad rear brakes on the right, carburetor leak, short in the radio, power steering system leaks, etc.; all fairly minor problems. I am just disappointed that they were not a thorough as I had paid them to be.

Needless to say, Corvette Mike will not see my car again... at least while I own it. My advice is to use this site and the many experts available here on the forum to do whatever you need to get done. The good folks here have saved me more than a couple times. everyone so far has been friendly, and reliable.
