TKO Backup Switch
My backup lights have quit working so I have been doing some troubleshooting and found that my switch resistance is around 70 ohms. This is high enough that it will not let my lights come on. I checked TNBUSA's new TKO 600 this weekend and the switch resistance on his transmission is less than 1 ohm.
So, I am wondering is it possible to remove the switch from the transmission and clean the contacts to make it work again or is it just a remove and replace type deal?
I had the same problem. I think the problem is that the switch is not designed to handle the current our backup lights use. I added a relay to control the lights and put in a new switch and after that it has worked fine.
Also, some TKOs (like mine) came with a switch that used screw-on terminals. There's a direct replacement available that uses a weatherpack. Makes for a much nicer install/wiring.

Markus, when you removed the old one did you run into any fluid when removing the old switch? Does the old switch just unscrew from the tranny or is it held in another way. I have not looked at it too much just curious as to what I will encounter.
When I did mine last week, the bolts came right out without any fluid seeping out or anything of that nature... I found it to be a very easy job... in fact the hardest part was getting the switch linkage retainer pins back on.

It's trivial. It takes longer to put the car on jackstands than to replace the switch. Just unbolt it and screw the new one in. No fluid comes out.
Eddie, just for future reference where did you get your new switch. What is the part number and who was it from. I'll put the info in my folder just in case, or when mine goes.
