Anybody have any idea of an easy way to get the gas tank sticker... or see if it's even there, without taking the gas tank down?
Anyone have any pictures of what I'm looking for?
Or pictures of how to get it?
Thanks!
If it IS there, and you're a 'Numbers' guy...leave it there. Idealy you should pull the tank if there is a sticket, and build a cover around it to preserve it. I could care less about them and I took mine off and have it in a folder. For the sticker to mean anything it must stay in it's place and be protected if it's not already destroyed.
I can see the top half of mine hanging over the top of the tank. I reached up and put my hand on it, but the paper feels like it would tear very easily. I think you would need to drop the tank to get it.
I care about the numbers and all, but I don't care if the sticker is on the tank or in a laminated cover in my house... if it makes the car worth more if I ever sell it, I'll put it back on the tank... other than that, I want it off so I can preserve it.
If I take the spare tire out I can reach ontop of the tank... where on the top of the tank is it usually?

What keeps it on the tank? tape?
The sticker is held on with adhesive. Generally removing can damage it. That's why dropping the tank is such a good idea because you can scrape the sticker off with a razor blade, cutting throught the adhesive and not the sticker.
