HD cover...
in one of those Heavy Duty covers. Can any one make a recomendation or all they
pretty much the same. I wouldn't think there would be that many companies producing differential covers.
One more thing, are there any tricks or things I should know about removing the old cover? It looks like the entire differential must come out. True...
I'm sorry to hear about the cover... :(
I may be wrong, but it seems to me that the HD covers are all the same, made by Muskegon Brake, so you'll save a few $$ buying it directly from the source.
As for the removal and reinstallation of the cover, some people here have sworn that it's possible to remove the cover without dropping the differential. I'm sure you can remove all the bolts that hold the cover to the carrier (the ones on the top may be tricky, but possible). I'm also sure you can remove the bolts that hold the cover to the crossmember, by removing the tires and getting to them from the front, using a spark plug socket or a deep well 5/8" socket. What I'm not sure is whether you'll be able to remove the cover after that, because of the gear sticking out of the carrier.
Hope this helps....
