The 1979 I purchased had one of the canvus soft tops installed on the car. They had to epoxy on the velcro strips to the car to keep it from flapping in the wind. So now the rubber weather stripping on my t tops will not seal properly i.e water/wind. So in my case I would call them a worthless, waste of time and money, plus they look like what the little boy left in his pants. Gary B.

You'll be fine if you can find a pair with original-style mounting pins and brackets. They have not been produced since the 1980s but they do appear on EBay from time-to-time. I would not buy the velcro type.

I wish they still made those, would love to have something like that I can just chuck in the back and have 'just in case'. I would never use them unless it started to rain heavily, but it's good insurance, I have almost been caught out a couple of times without my T-tops on board and it wasn't a good feeling.

Thanks for the pics! Did that kind have a particular brand name?

They are very convenient. They fold up and are stored in a bag. I'm working from old info and pics as my 1979 was sold four years ago. But at one point I had a one-page advertisement for those tops. I will look for it later today.

*Edit*-I moved about a year ago and many historical documents of all types are in storage. So I can't locate that advertisement. But this type of thread has appeared before and someone here knows the answer.

I remember looking for older style canvas tops a while back that have the frames/mounting points like shown in the above posts. I beleive they are called Saratoga Tops.

Amtops was the manufacturer. They work much better than those velcro ones do. They show up on ebay once in a while.
