HID headlight conversion?
You can buy a universal drop in kit but i would want to have a projector HID kit to focus the beam on the road. Most universal kits are very wide beamed and light up everything bright white or blue but the light isn't focused enough on the road, you'd get better vision at night with a flash light.
At this point unless someone has done this suscessfully with the projector HID's, i'm going to leave the stock lights with an upgraded harness & relays to get as much light out of them as I can then i'm going to make a C5-R type license plate housing for some HID projector fog lights that will provide the illumination for night driving. Now just need to figure out where to put the stupid jersey front license plate. good luck, this would be a great upgrade over the stock dim yellow lights.
If you do a search a few people have upgrade the highbeams to some aircraft fog lights which are insanely bright but only reasonable if your out in the middle of nowhere or in the mountains where there's no chance you will blind an oncoming motorist.

Projector is something to consider...sure that would involve a lot more of a custom type project then i was really thinking about.
Honestly I was just thinking the bright purple headlights would look good with my black Vette at night.
Ive been thinking about taking my chances with the local law and installing some bluedots in the tail lights. Use to run them on my 67 Camaro and never got puller over for it.
They will be very bright and look really sweet on the car, especially if you run the purple or blue colors but.....you visibility won't be what you get on the newer projector HID cars.
The lights are very bright but not focused on the road.
If you pull ur car parallel with a wall with the non-projector HID's you'll notice the brightness on the wall 90 degrees out of the headlight will be the same straight ahead of your car.
If you have a MAG light where you can change the focus of the light, put it where it gets the most area coverage. Its very different from when you focus it.
They do look nice and a colored beam on a black vette would look awsome but I personally will look into a projector setup.
Let me know what you end up using.

There are a few pilots on here that may be able to chime in.
The guy who I remember doing the conversion in South Carolina said they were very bright but worked great when noone was around.
I would think if they are built to work on an aircraft going very fast thru fog/rain when landing they would have to be pretty bright.
Also speaking of relays, a good way to get brighter lights is to power all the headlights through a relay;

I've done this and you'll be amazed at the difference. Also takes strain off the headlight switch, and is not expensive to do.

This is a nice way to upgrade to a HD relay setup WITHOUT cutting
or modifying ANY wires. Return to stock for NCRS by simply removing
the harness and connecting original plugs back to headlights.
They also offer a light kit that I cannot comment on ... don't have that.

Is it a secret or can you devulge which forum member made this harness? PM me if more appropriate. If your good with electrical thats a great and easy way to make a couple extra bucks.
Here is an example:

stupid high prices, I can see maybe 100 bux total for all 4 lights, but not a grand or so....
Yup, thats one of the things that has kept me from being the first to try them out.
Thanks for the other good ideas. Some stuff to consider.
