Side yoke seal replacement.
I noticed that a seal at the side yoke is leaking. Do you have to pull the differential and if so how much of a problem is it (not pulling the differential but tearing into it).. My manual says to take it to a dealer. Its on a 81. I noticed that in the AIM manual the side yoke has a clip ring on the end of it and I guess it would be to easy to slip out like a driveshaft. I do not care to buy a rebuilt one because it has an easy 50K miles on it.

You have to remove the diff and side yoke to replace the seal. It's not a hard job to remove the yoke and replace the seal, the hardest part is dropping the differential. It's supposed to be easier on your 81 than the early cars though.
