I was troubleshooting some electrical issues in my 82 CE today and ran into something out of the ordinary, but need to know if it will harm my Vette or not.
Across the marked Pwr Accy circuit breakers (below) on my fuse panel, the previous owner had installed a 30 amp fuse. Both the Shop Manual and the Owners Manual show no such thing.
I'm presuming I should take that fuse out, as it may hamper the cruise control or other systems? Or will leaving it there not be a problem?

Reason: better description
So someone replaced the circuit breaker with a fuse? That's the rear window defroster breaker. See no problem with a fuse for the time being but I'd find a proper breaker for it. The breaker resets itself while the fuse just blows.
edit, the power window breaker is the one at the top.

According to my 1982 Shop Manual the defogger fuse is the 30 amp fuse just below this breaker. This breaker is for the cruise control.
My question is: This is not a fuse slot, it's a breaker. Why would anyone put a fuse in the breaker slots?

Since the defroster is the opening below it(I see that now on your diagram), they obviously changed some things around . If you look at my 79 pic you can kinda see that slot is empty. Maybe this will be of no help but on my 79 the cruise shares the gauges 20 amp fuse. Doesn't even have it's own fuse or breaker. Don't know why the cruise would even need a circuit breaker. My defroster uses a circuit breaker AND also shares the gauges fuse for the switch.
If your 82 service manual has an "electrical-body and chassis" section, look through there for a blow up drawing of the fuse box. My 79 book has that blowup and it's much more accurate than the regular fuse layout diagram.
Hopefully copter will have an answer for ya. I'll go away now....:o
Steeped into the garage and took a quick look at the fuse panel on my 82. Looks like there is a circuit breaker in that slot. Went back to compare with info in shop manual. Seems that is for power windows, power seats, and cruise control. The drawing shows the slot is empty, but reading through the sections for those components indicates it's a circuit breaker. Go figure...
