Finally, some video on the how the camera mount performed. It's pretty smooth, at least acceptable for my purpose. Because I am mainly interested in vibration at this point, I did not bother to capture audio; I added some music to pass the time. Enjoy.
Sorry guys, I know the image quality is terrible. It's obvious I could use some help in rendering video for the web. I typically stick with tape or DVD. My computer has over a dozen options for video output, including streaming video.
If I can figure out a better method, I'll post some additional footage that I took yesterday 10/28/06 at between 50 & 60 mph down Pacific Coast Highway.
Any suggestions for better web video would be appreciated.
my apologies in advance if the download seems a bit lengthy. Would appreciate thoughts and/or comments. The mount held securely the entire trip, about 45 minutes in all. The first section was edited at twice the speed, in part because that particular stretch of road was so long, and in part because I could make the car appear to go as fast as I would really like to. Even so, the video is satisfactorily stable for the intended purpose. The rest of the video is at 100% real speed.

It looks like you're a little fast approaching the turn lane
that works great, nice & smooth but u should zoom yer camera a little so u get less of your dash & the over your windshield & bring in the road view better.

Thanks... I agree, less dash is good. For this test, I used the camera's lens for a better view of the vibration that the camera is subject to. I evaluated the vibe by watching how much the top of the windshield jittered in the frame.
When I actually put the camera/mount in use, I have a wide angle lens adapter that I zoom in to show the "Corvette" on my dash mat in the lower right corner of the shot. It allows me to not only catch the dash, but also the road and the front fender wells. Thanks for the constructive feedback.
