I have a red 81 Corvette I plan to use as a daily driver. It has old wheels I don't care for and finding aluminum originals has proven to be quite expensive. I put an extra set of ralleys on today but don't really like the look.
I am thinking of finding aftermarket and was hoping some of you could post pic's of 80-82 Vettes with different wheels to give me some ideas.
Thisis my friends 80 with the wheels off of my 74. He borrowed them for a weekend. They are Centerline Pintails, 17x9.5 with a 5" backspace and 245/45/17 tires (25.68" tall)
There are some more pictures of the wheels on my car in the link below but the pictures are kind of ratty looking. Sorry.
I'm selling my 17X11 rears. Because you can't get tall enough Z-rated tires. 315/35's are only 26 inches tall. Figure out your intented tires and get wheels to match.
So my sugjestion would be to go with 17X9 fronts with 4.5 back spacing and 18 or 19 rears
I notice they stick out a bit on the rear, how much? (It looks good anyway).
I'm definately thinking of something like that for my 79.

I didn't have ANY problem with the fit...I went with a really deep offset so I didn't have to change trailing arms.
Have been told that it could put alot of stress on the bearings..but I have had them redone
and since I don't plan on auto-cross ..not a problem.
Also...have to have the camber reset.
The wheels/tires stick out 3 1/4 inches on the rear. I am planning on adding ZL-1 flares.
Would have had it done by now but had to replace the tranny in the '94....
so the ''project'' fund got depleted. :(
Hopefully will have the flares installed sometime in the next few weeks.
