Hurst Comp Plus 4 speed shifter update
I let out the shift throw adjustment.....Now I can get into first, 3rd and reverse. But sometimes it shifts easy, sometimes it takes ALLOT of effort to do so
I looked at the invoice for a hurst tech line. NOTHING on the box, or instructions
So far, I am NOT impressed with Hurst. The instructions are not in a logical sequence, and no tech line.
I hope Hurst hasnt gone the way most typical race part icons have went: Down the toilet......................
Ill try some minor adjustments, and see if I can get this worked out. Sure would be nice if they had a tech line..............................
I would not recommend anyone buy any 4 speed shifters from hurst at this point

You're sure reverse is supposed to be setup not vertical? I thought all the levers including reverse were vertical in neutral, but then I never messed with my reverse lever.
The back of the 1-2 shift rod was hitting the crossmember, preventing it from going into first, and 2) The lever was hitting the edge of the trim plate that I had fab'd for the transmission tunnel, causing the same problem. Not until I had replaced the slider, ground away part of the parking brake pulley bracket and trimmed the edge of the trim plate did I finally become able to consistently find first gear.
Also, the installation kit for a Corvette (assuming you've got the right one) has a spacer block included which moves the lever to the right about 7/16" and the levers that attach to the trans side cover are slightly "S" shaped. It's important that these are properly oriented. Having never set up a Muncie before it took me awhile to sort these things out myself but once I had it right the unit works beautifully. Please don't take offense- just trying to help.

while I looked for any possible obstructions. I beleive nothing is in the way. I will look closer at the parking brake pulley assembly to see if its interfering
The liitle lever spacer is in and correct
The parts are correct for a 68. Both the shifter and installation kit
The bad thing about this, is now Im wondering if the tranny itself may be worn, not just the shifter. The original 68 shifter was worn, sloppy, getting hard to shift, so its hard to tell
Cant really check as the original shifter is so worn out

Had a M-21/22 expert drop by. He went thru what he could in the gears, then disconnected the linkages and tried the tranny levers them selves
Looks like the sincs and some bearings are probably on the way south.
One clue was it was easier to shift into 3, and 4th, than 1,2.
So here I was giving the Hurst shifter a bad time.
I thought the whole time it was in the shifter. It felt as if my original one was getting worse and worse. Then I replaced it. Same prob
I really didnt consider the tranny, although it was in the back of mind after awhile
Ill bet the vibration I got here lately around 25000 ropm is coming from the tranny as well
Ill be taking a pic history of the tranny coming out, fixing, replacing to share
I bought a rebuild kit from Ed Hartnett's 4 speeds. email eh4speeds@aol.com The kit had all the seals, bearings and syscros plus the main shaft. As I recall it was about 200 bucks. I took a bunch of pictures of my Super T-10 during overhaul if you run into problems. Also, Ed answered all my questions as I was rebuilding it, good guy.
