I have a 1980 numbers matching motor, I have a vacum leak from hell won't idel. I found the conector at the vacum switch on the in-take is cracked. I want to remove the switch, replace the therm housing, re-route the vacum lines and remove the egr. I have a plate to cover the hole in the intake, smog pump was allready removed. Any help on the vacum?
When I bought my corvette its EGR was removed and someone had put a screw into the old vac line. Although I don't know if that was the greatest of ideas for that..
do you know where the leak is?
If not, use a can of carb cleaner and with the engine running, spray the cleaner around all the intake edges, carb base, all the vac connections. Do this a little at a time. When the rpm picks up, you found your leak. Check the throttle plate shaft on the carb base too, they wear and leak
I bought a matco vacumn leak tester about 2 years and never used it
on a vac. leak. It also a ultra high transponder that you can put it put
on a seat or in a truck and check the weatherstripping. I tried it once
on my 87 C4 drivers door. The window seal really sounded off. Not sure if I had it adjusted right for sensitity.
