Beside a corvette, which other old car would like to own. I had many fords, 52-66 including Hi-Per and trucks. A 57. 61, and 66 chev. Some
60's mopar. Some Am-Motors which which I didn't care for.
I never had and would not mine to own ia early GTO, a 62 Pontiac grand
prix, a 57 J2 olds hardtop or a 53 buick skylard conv. In Mopar, a 67
Cuda, 69-72 challenger 340 6pack. I also forgot the 69 charger with a
440 mag.

I want my 71 "RT" Challenger back!!!! It had a 440 dual quad, 4 speed, 4:10 dana, get in, hang on, and save up for more tires. Sold it back in 1984. I had no idea that they would ever be worth what they are now. The GTO is always a good choice.
Besides my '69 and '61 Corvettes I own a '68 Impala convertible (AC-Factory Full Instrumentation0.
I had a '71 Cutlass Convertible with a factory tach and 4 speed. It was let go to make room for my (then) new '04 Viper.
As far as fantasy old cars (all 4 speeds!!): '70 Hemi Cuda Convertible, '69 Z28 ZR-1 Camaro Convertible, '69 ZR-1 Corvette Convertible (I will likely build my '69 into one if its hot small block ever blows up), '71 SS454 El Camino LS-6, and to pick a Ford, a '69 Shelby GT500 convertible......
You got any pictures of your 61. I could not includes the early vettes
because I started the post and said besides the vette. Your 68 conv.
looks great also. I had about 40 converables in my life and the 56 Vic
was the one I should have kept. Got drunk one day and took 22 pistol
to the back end trying to hit the taillights. Sold it for 50.00 with a rebuilt 312.
probably something like a 71 Plum Crazy Charger. only car that i would ever want in purple.
as for other older cars i want, ive already got them all. there all just projects in verying degrees. they range from "not a chance in hell" to "this may actually hit the road again someday"
69 corvette
69 camaro RS (if it ever gets restored itll be an RS/SS clone)
70 Mark Donahue Javelin
71 AMX
75 Trans Am
I always thought the early porches were the coolest, i bought my 61 in 1980 and still have it, but the 78 vette i now have is the one i want to tweek and drive, after all 75 hp out of the porche 1600cc engine ok but it just does not compare with what you can get out of a 350.

Oh man, love the Impala. I grew up with a 66 Impala as our grocery getter and loved it since then. I saw a 65 Impala last Saturday night on the way to the races. It had factory air and electric windows. Frame looked good and almost no body rust. If I didn't already have the Vette, this would be in my driveway this week.
Thanks!! I have to admit I take a lot of pride in that project!! I've driven it on 4 4000 mile two week vacations!! People are REALLY amazed to see it over a 1000 miles from its home state....
I already own it
1970 El Camino SS/'71 LS-5 engine/ 4 Speed
I have owned it for almost 20 years
Havn't driven it on a regular basis in about 7 or 8 years... needs some TLC which I will hopefully get around to some day

Thanks for the kind words on my Impala. It still has its original engine. I've driven this over 100,000 miles since redoing it. It has made over a dozen trips to the east coast from Iowa.
If you ever get one, the number one mod I'd recommend is to put in a blueprinted Trans Am steering box - mine came from Lee Steering.
My parent's family car from '68 to '73 was a '68 Impala SS327, black with a red interior. I drove it in college.
There are a lot of old cars that I really like, but would I want to own and drive them, is the question? Yeah I like the '57 Olds and '53 Skylark you mention from a styling standpoint, but for me the fun factor of driving those cars isn't there, but I do love to look at those types of cars. My all time favorites cars to own and drive are '64-'68 GTO, '66 Chevelle SS, '67-'70 F bodies, '64-'65 442, '57-'62 Vette, and C2-C3 roadsters.

I hope to be working on a '68 SS427 convertible this winter. The owner bought it 1976 and the car has been sitting indoors since 1980. It is very tired but completely original. The resto will be using all new GM parts that he purchased in the late '70's before they were discontinued. It's red/red with a black top, a 390hp with M21, buckets, tilt, multiplex, gauges w/tach and p/windows and front disc brakes.
