I just got two BF Goodrich Radial TA for my 79 Z28 and they ride nice. I had them before on a 93 5.0 and had no problem with them. They are not "high performance" tires and aren't priced as such. Traction off the line, I didn't like when I had my 5.0, spinned too much, other than that they weren't a bad buy.
I am not a fan of BFG radael TA's but I just purchased another set of BFG radial YURA? or something because they were the only 305 x 50 x 15s that I could find and they were on sale for $85 CDN eash. Listed at $211 each. How could I go wrong?

I've had the BFG T/A 255/60-15's on my '81 for the last 6 years, got about 35K miles on them now. They'll probably get 40k miles before I change them out. I've had no problems with them. They've stayed round (which is a problem more often than you might think) and the wear has been pretty consistent among the 4 tires. But, I'm a nut about maintaining alignment and rotating tires front/rear every year regardless of miles. I haven't been disappointed in the handling, ride quality, or noise of those tires. I was NOT please to see how much weight was required to balance a couple of them, but that has turned out to be a non-issue. In my experience, a very out-of-balance tire will tend to go out-of-round over time, but it hasn't happened with these. For the price, (I paid only about $75 each, plus installation costs) they are very hard to beat.
Having said all that, I will probably go with the Firestone Firehawk tires in the same size when the T/As are worn out. They have a better performance rating, better warranty, and seem to be easier to find in the 255/60-15 size. My understanding is that BFG no longer makes the T/As in that size, and availability of them is limited to old stock. I suppose this problem will just get worse, so I am considering buying 2 sets of tires when I finally make up my mind what to get. :(
Go to Tirerack.com and see what they have in that size.
I bought a set of the Firehawks SS20's last month. They look, ride and handle well. My only complaint is that they are slightly narrower than some of the other brands in the same size, which is bad if you happen to be looking for some wide tires. With that said, the better performance of the newer design Firestones will outperform the same old tired Radial T/A that has been sold since the dawn of mankind. :D

Well I'm from canada Yoss but I looked them up in the tire rack and they have it priced at 80$ for 275/60R15 (which I have on the rear) and 77$ for the front (255/60R15)
I've just fitted a set of BF Goodrich T/A's 255/60 15. Very happy with them. They do wander at speed on rough road surfaces but my previous Uniroyal 225/60 15 tyres did on the same stretch of road & felt a bit worse.
One wheel needed a lot of balance weights, so the tyre was removed and the wheel spun up with no tyre fitted - it was the wheel that was the problem.

The only high-speed rated tire that i could find is in the right size is the Pirelli Scorpion Zero, V speed rating. I'm still trying to burn down my "Viper TR's" that came on the car when i bought it and get some of these. $88 doesnt seem unreasonable either. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/pirell...orpionzero.jsp
Before you buy the BFGs, take a look at the Dunlop GT Qualifiers. I replaced my Goodyear Eagles with the Dunlops (also 255 60 15) and am very happy with the look and ride.

I have these on my '74 and I can tell you that I'm very happy with them. They are so much better than the crufty Eagle GTs I had on there before. She sticks to the road now. I took an M roadster at ~60MPH on a tight corner. I'm sure a better driver could have taken me, but even still, we were pulling pretty hard.

That's good to know, I have no experience with these tires, so this will make my purchase a little easier. :D
