Timing question
Just got my motor in,Has Comp cam XR288HR 236/242,idles best at 18 intitial timing. For total timing, I set timing light at 36 and rev engine to 3000rpm and timing light shoots past 0 on index plate. Do I need lighter or heavier springs on mech advance. Thanks

The springs don't change the length of the curve - they change the point at which the total comes in. To keep your 18 initial (which you want with that 288 cam) and limit the curve to 36 total, you need to change the length of the curve by changing the diameter of your stop bushing.
