Well it happened I just got off the phone with a customer who bought a month ago. He wanted a free bellhousing. This current offer excludes all previous sales and any other offers.

Thank you

Gene

I see a lot of comments about better fuel economy but for those of us that are considering going standard from auto, will there be more seat of the pant performance? With a good size cam, I am concerned that moving away from a torque converter it may lose some low end grunt.

If I shelled out over three grand for a product and then find out about an offer like this, I'd be on the phone calling you also.

You would be able to keep as you say your low end grunt. If as in your profile since you did not mention here that your 2004R still has stock gears of.

A little nervous. This is by far the most advanced project I will have ever done.
The installation isn't as bad as you think. One of our customers who is also a member here did a great job of documenting the whole process.

If I can answer any of your questions, please don't hesitate to call.
By the way, what was the name on your sales order? I will check on it and let you know of the progress.

But you do loose the benefit of the TC slip which increases engine RPM and multiplies torque off the line.

Im beginning to document a 4 speed to Keisler 5 speed swap. While it is supposed to be a direct swap, on the forum on the Keisler home page, a C-3 swap was done where the customer HAD to cut out the crossmember to get the Keisler in.

While I dont know why he wouldve had to do that, Ill see myself if I need to with my 600/5 Speed.

There are supposedly many members that have installed 500 and 600 series 5 speeds (replacing thier old 4 speeds), and have not reported they had to cut out the cross member

Auto trans to manual trans swaps supposedly already have a removable cross member, so thats not an issue from what I have heard

But for manual owners wishing to go 5 speed, the cross member is not removable.

I ordered the 600 specifically so I wouldnt have to cut anything out.
Ill report as I come to that step.............

I'm about to do the same thing myself, I'm sure members will chime in that have already done the Muncie to TK conversions but I believe it's possible to install it without making the crossmember removable but is one heck of a lot easier without it in the way. I'm going to make mine removable by making up some flanges and weld them to the ends.

Yes it is possible as many have done it without cutting the crossmember. I have a heavy blowshield on mine and could not think of holding it up there while I install the clutch. I made mine removeable and have not regretted it at all. I have had my trans back out 3 times and it made it a breeze. It just slides out without a problem. I am going to have to remove it again this winter to install the shifter upgrade. It will be just as easy. I think I have zippers on my motor and trans by now. I can have the trans on the ground in about 2 hours now.

The guys that have cut their crossmembers did so for the long run. It is not necessary to do this to make the install. I know because I did one on a 1964 with a Lakewood.
The guys I have talked to that cut the crossmember, did so because they wanted to "ease the installation" and clutch replacement factor down the road.

Hey Gene!!

The tranmission arrived a few days ago as promised, no problems..thanks.

I already have a design suggestion though:

Put the arrows on the outside of the box pointing towards the ENDS of the box that say "This Side Up". That way when the knuckle dragging UPS guys deliver it they'll lay it on the bottom side like you intended. This is what I found when I got home, note the arrows

Best Regards, Bill

Got mine EXACTLY the same way. UPS guy wheels it up on a 2 wheel dolly and slides it off. In their defense, it is kinda heavy and they didn't drop it or mangle the box.

Well the good news is your imput shaft isn't sticking out of the box.

Make sure you check the shifting soon and make sure the imput shaft spins freely should have a little drag on it.

Let us know how the install goes. We sure shipped that one quick.

If you need our help just give us a call

OK Gene, will do.

Short story: A friend of mine ordered a very expensive and heavy audio transformer, when the UPS driver backed into his driveway he opened the back door climbed into the truck and pushed the transformer off the truck body onto the concrete driveway. CRASH!
Friend was obviously mad to say the least, when he confronted UPS the driver denied doing anything, said he lowered it gently and left it. Then friend produced a video tape from his security system showing the whole deal! Case closed!
So when I learned you were shipping this UPS I set up my video camera and a VHS machine in the garage looking into the driveway. Truck backs up, two guys get out. The 25 year old guy stands 10 feet behind the truck, hands in pockets, while the 45 year old guy climbs inside and slides the box carefully down the bumper then walks it over on the tailshaft end to my garage door, gets driveshaft and sets it down. He locks the door and off they go. Ha! I should send them the tape to keep them on their toes!! (and recommend the 25 year old get to work)

Well I hope the boy was in training. I have freinds here in Tn that work for UPS, he will work his tail off soon enough. I think they get mad when they aren't delivering Sally's beauty supplies and meeting hot women at the door. those transmission's are heavy.

I have luckily never had a problem with any delivery I guess I am just lucky.

Keisler guys - Any issue with painting the bellhousing and transmission? Since I am not going to start for another few weeks, I was thinking of paitning them for protection and appearance before hand.

Sure you can paint the bell and the transmission. On the bell the machined mating surfaces tape them off. Meaning the block to bell surface and the trans to bell surface. On the transmission just tape off the sensors and paint away.
