Default Finished up my Engine

Folks, as some of you know I was working on "updating' my Stock LS5 454 earlier this summer after my return from Iraq this Spring.

The updating (Cam and Head change) turned into a complete engine over haul after I got into it and found some cylinder wall wear. Upon tearing down the engine we found a bad throw (crack ) in the crank and we proceeded to bore the motor .060 over. Number 6 and 8 cylinders had casting defects surface that showed up after the bore bar went through and they would would require sleeves so... bought a different block.

After all of that I finally got it together with a nice blueprint and balance. The block was decked and the compression came 9.2 to 1.

SPECS ON THE ENGINE:

454 (.060 over 467 CID)
Edelbrock Aluminum Heads (2.19 / 1.88 valves / 100 cc chambers)
GM Aluminum Winters Intake
Balanced and Blueprinted
New Rods
New SCAT forged Crank
TRW Forged Pistons
Comp Cams XE (505 / 515 lift with 218 / 224 duration @ .050)
Comp Roller Rockers, Push Rods and Lifters

I put in a Dewitts aluminum radiator at the same tiem to help keep it cool. It runs well and I am pleased.

Here are some shots of it going in. I will post more of the car later.

Later,

Looks good! Nothing like dropping that new motor in for the first time. I'm sure you have many smiles to come

Not to sound too goofy, but damn that big block sure looks BIG. I am use to SBs, and they have a lot more room to work with.

I love aluminum heads. Will those poly locks fit under stock covers?

Jughead,

The poly locks cleared the stock covers with drippers... barely.
