Default Body back on

The body is back on and all the parts and pieces are starting to come together. I was surprised how easy the body and frame matched up. I was expecting more problems with the body shims since this is a different frame. I’ll finish up making the rest of the connections and install the bumpers in the next couple of weeks. I’ve run out of good weather so it looks like it will be spring before I can paint it. I really need to thank everybody on the forum for all there help, it really is a great source of information.

Looks wonderful bud...make sure you don't forget the master cylinder. You're braking will suffer considerably.

I like how you painted the fender wells and firewall the same color as the body. Looks great!

Great pictures and great work. I just put the body back on my car a few weeks ago and I've been working slowly on getting my engine compartment back in order. Your pictures have helped me answer a few of my questions. Thanks!

In the picture it looks like your throttle linkage, transmission kickdown cable, and return spring all connect to the same plate. Where did you get a plate like that from?

Everything looks like a cleaned up slightly modified version of stock. I really like the way your engine compartment looks.

Do you remember what these wires are for?

Where did they come from? I have two stray wires sticking off of the wiring harness that goes to the starter. Are these wires grouped with that cluster (at least in your Corvette)?

Thanks

The wires you have circled are the hood switch. I have a switch too but I never knew if it went to an alarm system or a courtesy light or something.

Answers my question

That explains why, in part, my hood light probably never worked before.

I don't think my Vette ever had a hood light...but I could be wrong. I just know it's a ground switch similar to those used for door jams and such. They could be for anything from a hood light or an alarm switch or something.

Pin switch on firewall:
It's for the alarm on earlier C3s without hood lights.
I'm pretty sure the late models with hood lights are a mercury switch
at the bulb, not a pin switch. (but may be wrong here)

I was thinking of adapting mine to make a hood light come on when I open the hood.

I would try to find a junkyard light to transplant.
Pretty sure my 89 Buick has a socket with built-in mercury (tilt) switch.

Oh - to original post .... WOW ... looks fantastic.
Good luck keeping her clean.

Sorry to hijack.

I wanted to mount lights on both the hood and fender walls. I want to use LED or florescent lights, and using a merc switch might make it complicated.

It is a anti theft switch and the hood light is controlled by a switch in the under hood light.

Victor, the throttle linkage came from Jegs,it's made by CRS, i think the part number is 170-631C. The return spring also came from Jegs made by Mr Gasket.
