i'm going to fix mid america L88 flares kit on my '77... where i have at moment 15 x 8 wheels (stock BS) with 255/60 front and 275/60 rear tires, what spacers could i use to get wheels out to cope with flares line?
what spacers brand, possibly lightweight, should i buy?
do i need longer bolts too?
thanks/Giu
good morning T/T...i could leave then the front wheels as they are and get some wider for the rear, i need to check if they build the very same wheels that wide. what BS i'd need rear?
thanks/Giu
The L88 flares are too wide for a 15x8 wheel - although I love how they look this is why I did not buy L88 flares. The rims/tires too expensive, look at those 17x12s that 69MyWay installed on the 1980 vette
You could use a 2.5" spacer with your rims but it would look silly IMO, with these flares you need at least a 10" wide rim with 295 tires.
I'm sure the 15x10s would look pretty nice with 325-50-15 tires
I had N50/15 Mickey Thompson Indy Profiles on 15x10 wheels (3.8 inches of backspacing) on my '70 with L88 flares. They fit just about perfectly, running about 12.25" of tread width. I've got 17x11 ZR-1's(7.4" of backspacing) with 335x35x17 BFG drag radials now with 3" spacers. They could actually use a 3.5" spacer to put the tires out where the old Mickey's fit.
putting spacers on stock rims will put a lot of stress on outter wheel bearrings. that will always cause premature bearring failure. do it right with wider rims! that will dissperse the load properly on the bearrings.
