I have a 73 corvette that I just purchased, and after the last time I drove it, I parked on a hill and cut it off. When I came back out and tried to crank it, the car would not move. Th shifter is locked in place and will not move, however it is in gear, because the car will stall if I take my foot off the clutch. Even though it is on a hill, the car will not move at all, even if you push it from behind. Any advice on what has happened, and how to fix it would be great. Thanks!
You managed to get the transmission stuck in 2 gears at the same time (not uncommon on these cars). Try moving the shifter back and forth to get it unstuck, or go under the car to release the stuck linkage. Others on the forum will have a more detailed explanation for you if you need it.
Good luck, I have been there, done that. I got mine loose by beating on the shifter with my hand (NO WISE CRACKS PLEASE). I was stuck in the middle of nowhere at night with no tools. I was lucky that the shifter disengaged.

Give up, sign the title, and go home. I'll be by later to haul off the useless car...you're better without it.
I tried to move it, but where I had a little play in it before, now I have none. I hope I haven't made the problem worse. I guess next is to get under the car, which will be difficult, considering I'm facing down the hill.

How expensive is a tow there? It might be worth $35 - $40 and get it towed to a flat surface closer to where to live. Maybe your own driveway.
