Default After Market Gauges

A lot of the gauges in my car are broken. I'm not a fan of 30 year old technology so I was wondering what kinda solutions some of you guys have used for after market. I would like something with color adjustable LED but the only one's I've found like that are from Autometer and cost almost $200 PER GAUGE. I'm looking for a much more economic solution, I don't want to deal with used parts

I'm using the nordskog digital gauges in red, not sure if this was what you were talking about. They come in red. blue and green I think.

not a huge fan of digital, it ruins the old school look of the car in my opinion . Also with your suggestions please give me some pricing/buying info!

The kit was about 440 bux but theres a guy on ebay who has them for 399 every now and then. I agree about the old school look but I needed new gauges also and didnt like the inaccuracy of the stock ones particularly the temp gauge.

yeah looking at some of these prices i think im just gonna try to ebay new stock gauges, i really liked a set by autometer but to replace all of the cluster gauages would be almost $1000 just for friggin gauges hehe.

You must be looking at the most expensive guages that autometer makes then...i did all my guages including a 5" speedo and tach for about 2/3rds that price.

Custom 3/16" gauge plate (carbon fiber) mounted to an old, butchered stock gauge cluster... and Autometer Ultralites.

Not exactly what you're looking for perhaps, but it's an alternative. Helps to have gauge buckets and bezels that you don't care for too much.

I won't call the Nordskogs 30 year old technology, but I do recall fully digital LED replacement gauges being available in the late 70's - early 80's for both early and late C3. And yes Autometer gauges are very popular with the hot rod (both show and go) crowd as well. I personally like the appearance of the gauges from Classic Instruments and think they are worth considering. They are very definitely modern technology.
Give em a look. http://www.classicinstruments.com/

iNdigo - What model Excelon is that in your dash? If you can get your hands on one, get one of the new Kenwood Excelon KDC-X999 or the Ann. version. BEST Kenwood HU I have ever used.

This is from my ASAIWL (as soon as I win the lottery) wish list-- real aircraft gauges.

When you consider that this setup gives you 10 parameters with alarms in the same space; then the price isn't too bad ($1800).

He photochopped those. Aircraft gauges arted onto a C3 center gauge cluster console. They look kind of slick.. shame about the price.

Hey Indigo, is that a carbon fiber sheet that you drilled out, or is that carbon fiber aplique? Where did you get it. It looks good. I'm doing my gauges this weekend, so if you let me know kinda quick, I would appreciate it.

New mounting and Wiring yes....

Actually factory senders work fine for water temp and fuel - I use a mechanical oil as opposed to OEM electric on my 78.
