WOW! Worth more calling around!! I have a rebuild kit, might tackle it myself (some many parts!!!). Actually I am gonna reinstall the orig carb "as is" today, and see how she runs. If it runs OK, I may hold off on the rebuild, and find someone reasonably priced to do it. Let you know!

Default It WILL IDLE!!!

OK....figured there was a chance the rebuilt Roc QJ might be the problem (thanks BOB), so dismantled the orig carb, cleaned it thoroughly, blew it out again, replaced the accel pump, a couple of easy to get to gaskets, blew it out again, put it on, and WHAM!!!! Idles fairly smoothly at about 800-850 rpm....Its a good day...as long as it lasts. Vacuum system still isnt working, so off to purchase a vacuum gauge. Still havent checked timing, or points. But shes sounding pretty good to me!! Thanks again for all the helpful ideas, more questions to follow!

Rather than buying a Vacuum gauge buy a hand Vacuum pump
It has a gauge on it and its great for troubleshooting a Corvette
Autozone has a decent one (made of metal) for $50
Well worth it
