"Corvette Black Book" has all such info. Perhaps someone here will provide a web site for this data.

This page works for the VIN on a '75 - may also apply to a '79.

What are you wanting? VIN tag is on the windshield post; trim tag is on the driver's door hinge post. Corvette Blackbook and other sources list the codes.
