Muncie 4spd adjustment help

1 thing I need to do is adjust the shifter linkages. I cannot get it into R or 2. 1, 3, and 4 all engage and work.
What is the best procedure for aligning the shifter linkages?
Thanks!
Sounds easy BUT IT'S NOT!!!!!It is very difficult to get that gauge in the slot on the shifter. You will need to raise you Vette and be able to crawl under it at least on the drivers side. You will need to adjust the levers on the linkages to get them right. Start by putting it in neutral and checking to see if the shifter easily moves side to side and into reverse. If you feel it "hanging up" or hitting when you move it side to side you will need to adjust that linkage. 1-2 linkage is the back lever (not the reverse in the very back). 3-4 is the front lever.
If you have the correct linkages, the 3-4 lever has 2 nuts to adjust the lever/linkage. The 1-2 lever will have to be unbolted from the transmission and turned on the threaded end of the linkage.
I used the gauge at first but have had to fine tune my linkages to get them to work correctly. I just make small changes to a lever to make sure the shifter still works correctly.
Good luck.

I wonder if it varies by model year. I will anticipate your next question, by saying I have reached it with approximately equal great difficulty from the top and from the bottom. From the top, removed the trans boots and busted my knuckles and reached down from the left side with just the small tool. From the bottom I attached the little tool to a long handled grabber thingy and managed to find the hole from below. Think I prefer from above, but it requires more work to remove the boots first.
Just reread my post above....
imagining sitting her down on the bed and grabbing her boot by the heel, bracing my foot against the bed... pulling on the darn boot, ok, that's a lot of work to remove the boots first. Now I attach the little tool to a long handled grabber thingy..
(She looked at me expectantly!!!)
oh, never mind!
