I like to see some close up pics of the hood and your car if possible as I am debating whether to trun an old base hood I have lyng around into a stinger style and replace the L88 presently on it.
I'd like to see some close up pics of the hood and your car if possible.....
+ tax, specifically the area that 'would'/'could' be opened-up to make a functional ram-air set-up, for a drag-racing application:
I prefer a forward-facing opening, and need clearence for a Victor Jr., spacer-plate, and Demon carb.
This is how I would do it, get rid of the stinger part and move it forward a bit
I think it comes in two pieces ? Maybe they'll give a discount if you order without the stinger
well, at this stage would be better (and much cheaper) to get only a stinger hood scoop that looks exactly as your fotoshop... (which is what i'm doing...)

GDH, if you replace your L-88 hood and want to sell it, I may be interested. Let me know.
I put the Ecklers hood on my 73. It was not functional until I attacked it with my trusty Dremel tool. I also tried to use the repo 67 chrome trim piece, but it did not fit worth a crap. I had to open it up and cut it into 3 pieces. It fits well now. I also cut a slit in a piece of rubber tube and put it over the exposed fiberglass in the opening. I am very happy with the results. Be aware that opening up the scoop will alter the air flow through the radiator. You will comprimise the seal. I have had no problem of overheating, but I am only running an L48 right now. The other benifit, is the amount of heat in the cockpit has been reduced as the air is drawn out of the engine and up over the windshield. It has been enough for me to notice a difference. See my avitar. I can send more pics if you are interested.
How-far in-front of the carb is the scoop-opening, as I plan to use an air-pan box (aluminum-bottom with foam sides, 'sealing' it to the underside of the hood ) while racing the car?
I would think to ship the hoods that it would cost nearly as much as getting a new one. I'll likely hold onto the L88 and mod my existing base hood as they fit and I can just swap them out when I want a visual change but if I do decide to get rid of it will let you know.
