Many parts stores will test your battery for free. If it tests bad you can just grab a new one while you're there. First I'd make sure the terminals are clean and cables are in good shape & tightly connected. Good luck.
Have the battery tested first to see if it is holding a good charge. That would be the first step. If yo uare in S Jersey close to Marlton I'd be happy to help.

WOW!!! Sounds serious. You better get rid of that car now!!! (I'm willing to take it off your hands).
OK, OK. Just kidding. I do live in Jersey though. Where are you? I'm going to look at a unique 71 ZR1 tommorrow.(only convert made). Doing that early. I could try to help if your nearby. Dennis
If it cranks for 5 or 10 minutes....it's NOT the battery. There are lots of things that could cause your problem. If the engine is hot when the problem happens, you could have vapor lock problems (percolating fuel). Spark, fuel, air --- are the areas to check. If you have a timing light with an induction pickup, put it on all the plug wires (one at a time) and see if all are firing and regular; that'll check for spark. If you have a damper in the air cleaner nozzle, make sure that works correctly. For fuel, take the air cleaner off and -- [before you try to fire it up] -- move the throttle to see if the carb accelerator pump is squirting gas into the primaries. If not, rebuild the carb. If none of those...good luck!
If you mean that it turns over for ten minutes until it starts, then I would think it would be the fuel pump. Does it restart OK after you run it a while? Does it start hard after sitting for a long time? If so then your fuel pump is letting the gas drain back. Then the whole time you are trying to start it you are waiting for the gas to pump back up.
