I bought an electric choke from Napa, tapped into the white wiper wire and verified that I am getting voltage to the new choke when the key is turned on. However the car won't start now.
I also noticed that the plate is now not snapping shut when I tap the pedal before starting. Perhaps the pics will show what's wrong.
You want there to be a slight opening. The choke itself can be adjusted by loosening those screws. Then rotate the whole black plastic assembly until the throttler plate opens a small gap, maybe 3/8" gap. Try starting. Also, if the choke is now ignition controlled, make sure you do testing to verify that when the key is off, NO voltage gets through. An electric choke hooked up wrong will drain a battery.
I removed the hot air choke since I switched to Vorterc heads. A lot less plumbing under the hood too.
Do you have some pictures of those heads and your engine compartment as a whole? That way I have something to look forward to How did the vortecs come out performance wise? And what engine did you start with?

I know that Kalway just switched to Vortec heads on his 350, and loved the improvement. Word is they are a good swap, but require a different intake manifold.
The choke is still not closing when I tap the throttle. Should it still do this even after converting to electric?
Some carbs have a small screw on the passenger side that controls that. If the screw is out too far it won't let go of the choke weight and it can't close. Look for that screw...on the passenger side of the carb, and see what you can find.
Pics of all four side of the carb would help...good close up shots. Thanks.
