Then neither gasket is right for your application. You need a special gasket "pack" that consists of a composite high-temp lower gasket with a groove in it, followed by a stainless steel reflective heat shield, and then finally a third 4-hole gasket on top of that with a special shape to cover the shield and groove configuration. To the best of my knowledge, I'm the only source for the complete 3-peice gasket kit, and I get each of the 3 gaskets from a separate source. Drop me an e-mail for info - I can send you the right gasket setup for about $13. If you use anything else, you will suck exhaust gas down your intake. V8FastCars@msn.com
SmokinBBC- take Lars up on his offer. It will not only protect your carb, but will make it soooo much easier to get your car to run right. Since I put his gasket pack on mine 3 years ago, I've not had a bit of problems with my carb.

That's not the exhaust crossover manifold - that's a standard manifold with no exhaust groove. You can use the standard 1/4" thick open plenum gasket on that.
I have a stainless steel heat shield sandwiched by 2 gaskets on it now. All are open center. The approximate combined thickness is about 1/4 inch. (1/8 thick gasket 1/16th thick shield and 1/16th gasket with the thin gasket on the bottom).
I did this to eliminate a perculating problem in the carb that occured after shutting it down. The shield is the one that was used on Cali. emissions vettes..it is the correct GM part. By the way...no more perculating.
