I know I asked this a while back with no luck. Trying again.
Is there anybody that has converted or sells a kit to go from power to manual? Not enough vacuum on my motor to go power. Any part number help or pics would be appreciated.
Thanks

Just buy a master cylinder from an older manual brake car, and maybe a proportioning valve. The calipers would have been the same, as well as the lines and placement. That should cover you.

He'll need to fabricate a bracket for the firewall too. Power brakes used 4 studs, the master cylinder uses 2. Not a real difficult project, I did it on an Oldsmobile I have.

They sell supplimental vacuum pumps just for this purpose (big cams).
That bracket can't be that hard, and adapting a two stud master to your firewall should be easy. I don't know much about the adjustable rod on the manual masters so you'll have to look into that when you're buying one.

I agree so all I need is the right rod and master cylinder.
This thread sparked an observation....AFAIK no later sharks came with manual brakes...and as such came with master cylinders the same divot hole being same as all other GM cars of the era....shallow, only the early sharks had a ~1.5 inch deep hole in the master cyl....so the cyl was probable the same....which explains the differances in there....
the manual master cyl is the same as early shark?? the clevis arrangement would just sit in the cylinder and not pop out of position...
I'm in the process of doing this now. I have a new Wilwood Master and am planning to fabricate the mount and rod with the help of a machinist buddy. I just had corpal tunnel surgery so it will be a couple of weeks before I get into this but if you can wait I'll post all the details.

That's really cool of you, and even I can't wait to see the pics and progress.

I called them a few years ago and bought a bunch of stuff. One thing was an adapter plate.
It's really not needed, you just need to cut the firewall hole higher, move the push rod to the upper hole in the brake pedal, move and modify the brake light switch bracket to the lower hole. cover the firewall hole with a thin piece of sheetmetal.

Gene make a good point.
The manual master clyinder is different than the power one.
2 Things are different
Thing 1 is the bore size 1 1/8" for power 1" for manual
Thing 2, deep pushrod hole on the manual master.
IMHO, the reason for a lack of manual brakes on latter cars is more to due with the changing Vette market than with actual brake performance.
Latter C3's were more of a luxury car than a sports car
