Default info on forced induction c3's?

hi everyone,
im moonlighting over here from c4 general because im looking for some help.
a co-worker has a super clean low mileage big block 69.he bought it new and pulled the engine out and has it on a stand in the corner of his garage (i know, can ya beleive it) and put in a built 502 thats been in it since i beleive around 1970.
anyway, hes wanting to do something to give it a little more kick than it has now and is contemplating aftermarket fuel injection as a start.
he was asking me if i knew anything about any of the various aftermarket fi systems and is concerned about hood clearance issues.
i told him i would be thinking about possibly a supercharger or turbo set up for it.
surprisingly when i started searching the net for maybe an sts rear turbo kit, radix, whipple,or kenne belle supercharger, or even a procharger off the front of the crank maybe,i couldnt come up with any info or examples of blown c3's.
are they just to tight to squeeze much in to?
does anyone have any links of project c3's with blown big blocks in them?
or how about any info on which fuel injection system (aftermarket) and controls might be a good fit on a big block c3?
i will get more details from him on just how the 502 is built, like compression ratio and cam specs if needed but for right now even some links would help us
thanks for any tips, and i gave him the corvetteforum address and told him to get his butt in here and join the fun so hopefully he will pop in and share some pics and details himself.

Default turbo'd big block

Heres my 72 with a 468 twin turbo setup. No fuel injection yet, using a blow through carb.

holy cow that is nice!
and yea the bustemloose at speed is what every one of us big kids dream of
i talked with tom some more today,he hadnt checked in to corvetteforum yet-no time, but i got his email address and am gonna link him to this thread and some others.
his car is a 72,bought new and he said 1 year to late cuz they started dropping ponies due to unleaded fuel.
the engine he swapped into the car was a new gm crate 502 with 10.1 to 1 compression.
ive noticed lt1 forced induction kits are around (i have a 92 lt1 vette btw) so although it might not be idealmthe 10.1 to 1 should be workable eh?
hes only looking for a mild boost, maybe 6 to 7 psi and its just for street use.
this car is rarely driven,i think hes only got like 30k total on the car,but he loves it and wants to give it another kick in the pants just for fun.
thanks for the pics

Default fuel injection setup

Check out this video, has a nice fuel injection setup on it. I bet it would fit under a small block hood. My daughter wanted to go for a ride in the vette yesterday so she grabbed her digital camera and we made a couple of short videos of it while we were out and about. She has ridden in it lots of times but still says its scary. 10.5 is pretty high for forced induction, if you are running cast pistons, detonation will break pistons eventually. I started out with an 8.5 motor with cast pistons and it lasted long enough to get the turbo setup up and running good then I got a dead cylinder and upon tearing it down I found broken ring lands and rings on the one piston. The tops of all the pistons looked fine though so I dont know if it was detonating or it broke from just the cylinder pressures. I was running 15 lbs of boost most of the time. A rule of thumb is that if your motor makes lets say 300 hp naturally aspirated and then you add 14.7 lbs of boost you should be able to make 600 hp and there are lots of variables on that too. Kevin from CSU (makes carbs for forced induction setups) told me about a 454 they pulled from an old dually pickup that they dynoed. I think all they did was swap in an edelbrock performer cam and intake and with a procharger running 14 lbs boost, it made over 700 hp. Good luck with your project.

Mike

man. would i get in trouble with that lol
toms car was a factory big block 4spd car (actually looks just like yours-red and all) but i dont recall his hood being as tall as yours.
is that a stock hood you have there? (sorry for bein ignorant but ive been in c4 land for the last 5 years lol)
also i havent seen the guys car since last summer he finally brought it in to work one day.
he's shooting for 500 rwhp and not planning on running street tires only, to keep the 12 bolt happy.

My hood is not stock. Its an aftermarket "daytona" hood and I had to cut the center loose and raise it about 1 inch to be able to clear the carb hat. I wanted to run the intake pipes over the radiator and I liked the way that hood has the raised center section that goes all the way to the front. I also like the vent holes in it that lets some air out from under the hood. 500 rwhp is going to around 575 flywheel ponies. The reason I went with turbos is that I can have an 8.5 comp motor with a mild cam that idles at 700 rpm with good vacuum and is very streetable. Only turns into an animal when you really want it to.

Same reasons I went with a twin-screw supercharger on my '70.
