Default Wiper Door

I just replaced the wipers on our 70. Now for some reason the wiper door comes down on the right side wiper before the wiper can get completely down. Is this something that may work itself out with a little wiper use, or do I need to remove the wiper arm and install in a slightly different angle? I didn't notice this to be a problem before. Thanks for the ideas.

Don't know if this is your problem, but I bought replacement blades for my 71' and had the same problem. Issue was that the replacement stood out further from the windshield than the old one so it wouldn't clear the wiper door. What I ended up doing was buying just the blade "refill" part to fit the old blade holder.

Be sure that the passenger side wiper arm is contacting/activating the vacuum switch (black switch down in the wiper trough) properly when it's at rest. This switch tells the wiper door that the arms are down. Your arms may also be "out of time" with each other and don't come to a rest position at the same time.

I had same problem, most replacement blades are too tall and door will make contact with them. I hope you didn;t throw away old parts, I was lucky enough to get a set of blade holders from a friend off a 68 parts car. If you door is retracting too soon, the vacuum valve below the right wiper arm is sticking. You can pull the grille out and observe the valve, it delays the door drop until the wiper has gone to the park position. There are 3 vacuum line on this valve, one is an open vent, don't plug it.

Just make sure to buy the low profile blades for otu years, they sell em at autozone and pep boys and such but you have to look close for the LP

Default Wiper Blades

I have been talking with Doc Rebuild about the problem with replacement wiper blades, they are too tall. Don't throw out the originals.
