Default Tipping the Scales...

All this eating for Turkey day got me thinking...

So what does your car do over the scales?

Ready to drive, full of fuel.

Better yet power to weight RWHP/Weight

So what does a C6 weigh and put out at the wheels?

I'm hoping for 2700-2800 lbs and 425 to the wheels or estimated 6.5 lbs/hp in contrast my bike is measured at 349/110 or 3.1 lbs/rwhp.

When you add in the driver the bike is more like 5.5 and the car is 7.2.

So assuming the car will come out at 2800 I'll need to get the RWHP up in the 509 range as a minimum to accellerate like the bike...

I guess I'm gonna be looking for 750 at the flywheel to get my heart started

to get a C3 down to that weight ( which is what my lightweight M535i BMW weighs ) you iz gonna have to remove the body and fix the drivers seat to the water pump !!!!!!!!

My 72 LT-1 with 1/2 tank of gas and tops/rear window out: 3228lbs without the "lard azz" driver in it. C5 Z06 Vette: 3185lbs without lightweight female driver in it. Real world figures from cornerweighting (I think I just gave away another "speed secret".)

On certified scale...

78 Sa..fully loaded..options,etc...3580..power/Weight ratio...forget it...
69 502..full tank...3370..no P/S or A/C...best guess on power to weight ratio is 8.1 something..
Next, going to used wheel scales for F/R weight ratio...

My friends C6 Z06 gets 474 rwhp on dyno...

Rich

I've got aftermarket body work, Stripped it down to the bare 'glass inside, aluminum hubs, alloy rad, alloy heads, intake, waterpump, ps pump, brackets, no side windows, no heater core, 16 gal plastic fuel cell, no spare tire, aluminum seats, tubular A arms...

I have added a 14 point cage and gussets to the frame. and upped the oil capacity to 10 qts, the ROD 6 speed is prolly a little heavier than the muncie...

I still need to replace the rear window and the windshield with Percy's race glass, ditch the stock brake calipers for alu, cut the centers out of the interior door skins and replace with alu pannel.

Then get going on makin more power with the ramjet...

I run it over the scales in the spring...

I was interested in what kind of power to weight ratios were out there...

Dunno really - car weighs in at about 2700 lbs, engine started at 229 German bhp then was tuned a bit.

Sure is fun - and was thinking on the way home a couple of nights ago - doing another 120 in the rain and embarrasing all and sundry...
the BM feels so secure and positive - with a high seating position to give a good view - how is my C3 gonna feel at speed in the dry or rain ?????

My 71, SB, auto, AC/PS. Everything in there except the spare tire, around a 1/2 tank of fuel = 3380lbs, 3540lbs with me in it. That is with a fiberglass rear leaf though, all else stock. Power to weight ratio is pitiful because it makes around the same power as my lawnmower.
