73 5 speed conversion mpg
Has anyone put a 5 speed in a 73 or thereabouts with a 350? Did it help the mpg?

If it is a richmond 5 speed with a one to one 5th gear ratio it won't improve gas mileage. I installed a T5 5 speed with a .68 to one 5th gear ratio and I went from 16 MPG to 20+ MPG highway. I'm running a 3:55 rear diff. Hope this helps.

i have got a richmond 6 speed with 0.62 overdrive & 3.70 rearend on my L46....get 20+ mpg also. Priceless to see the looks on others faces thinking that the older cars can't cruise at 80+mph due to typical gearing ratios we use to have

I'm running a T56 6 speed and there is a big improvement in economy. if only I could stop flooring it through the gears all the time!

Next weekend I am replacing my TH400 with the Keisler 5spd. I would be extremely surprised if I did NOT get an improvement in gas mileage.

Installed a Keisler TKO-600. Took my MPG from 15 ro 20. As others have stated, it would be better if I kept my foot out of it but what fun is that?!

Cost of conversion
I was wondering what the total cost was for the 5 sp conversions. It seems like everyone that has done it was pleased with the results.
