Anybody have an opinion on Scat rotating assemblies? Saw a kit in summit that comes with forged crank, rods and pistons, includes rings and bearings all balanced and ready to go for $1275 p/n SCA-1-40005BI... almost sounds too good to be true...

I use alot of Eagle kits,we use'd to use Scat and had lots of problem with them so we switched,I have heard Scat's qaulity has improved, but I haven't used any of there stuff in a couple years.
the local engine builder told me that scat's are pretty good these days, also when you get it there is a note inside the box telling you if you use fluidamper harmonic balancers it voids the warrenty, i was later told fluidamper's are not worth the money, because they ***** up cranks.

Just bought an Eagle 383 stroker assembly. From what I have researched Eagle and Scat are both good. Scat has a foundry in China and then finishes the machining in So CA. So they should have more contol on quality
I ended up with an Eagle 383 internally balanced, 5.7 rod forged rods, cast crank, hypo Speed Pro coated pistons, Clevite 77 bearings, Hasting moly rings...balanced for $699 delivered. Waiting on delivery and the machining
best of luck...Mark
just got mine running a little over a week ago! I'll get some video up soon for ya'll!.....I love it!
anywho, I have a scat cast light weight crank, with forged 5.7 rods, SP hypereutectic flat top pistons........compression is around 10.5 with aluminum heads.....kit was from northernautoparts for $540.....
my set up is ext balanced.....got the shop to check the balancing out and the guy up there said the crank was so bad off it was shaking the machine....well, it's balanced now....it runs great though!....i'm just glad I got it checked out and balanced......
not trying to scare you out of getting a scat setup....just make sure it's balanced or get it checked after you do your clearancing and stuff....(unless it's already clearanced and ready to go)
that's just my experience a few weeks ago....the car runs great and spins up to 6K just fine!....no worries here NOW!
