i just put a deposit on the 460/383 from engine factory. it seemed like a nice engine, roller cam and rockers. its getting delivered in jan. i hope its a good engine because it was alot of money.
Hi,
I am looking at the same engine - 460hp 383 from engine factory.
Also considering the 475hp engine, as it has the larger port volume (200cc), vortec style heads, but not sure if it is worth the extra money...
Have you received your motor yet, and fitted it?
I want some feedback from someone who has one of these crate engines.
HEllo rudolph, i´m alex from madrid maybe is a good option for you, but i´m studin to buy a Bill mitchell engine, you will see his engines on the net, and there is one man who really like do good engines www. steve schmidtracing.com maybe is expensive but is a good engine and for use all the time. i hope maybe i can help you.goood luck with your buy.
I hate purchased an engine for my Truck from them. I did a long research with different crate engine companies. The Engine Factory, Matt and Bruce, is absolutely amazing.
They built the engine for my needs, I am towing my Harley once in a while. Also when you have questions, they will have an answer for you!
Get the matching March serpentine system also, it not only looks great but works even better. The engine is hot tested and runs right out of the box. Everybody who has seen it so far is just wowed. I wanted a daily driver I can depend on and that is what I got.
This was one of the best decisions I made on the truck!
Good luck, give them a call you will not regret it.
I can't believe 5 years has past since I placed that post above.
I bought the 383 / 475 hp crate engine and installed it late 2007.
I have done over 10000 km with it and the motor is running stronger than ever, especially after getting the timing set correctly recently.
Chassis dyno resulted in 373 rwhp and close to 393 lbft at the rear wheels, (est flywheel: 465 hp / 490 lbft) so the enginefactory specs are pretty reliable.
Gunther.... Which engine did you buy for the truck?
I went with the 383/460hp. Have you sent Bruce and Matt a letter and a couple pictures of your engine and car? I'm sure they'd love to see it. They are really top notch guys.
