If it doesn't, it's probably an easy fix. My problem was the light didn't work on my '69 and my switches were missing from the rear door jams. I went to the dealership and the switches were still available. The wires are accessable through little access panels with four screws that are in the rear fender wells just in front of the tires. I didn't even have to remove the tires to get to them since when you jack the car the tires droop to give you clearance. Anyway, once the little doors were off, the wires were right were Bubba had left them, complete with the correct push-in pins to mate with my new switches. Just thread the wires thru the switch mounting hole, connect em up, and screw the swich in and your done. Thanks to the guys on the Factory Correct Forum for answering my post on the simplest fix I've yet to run into! :D
My door ajar lights stay on....On the drivers side cause the switch is jammed..I find it hard to believe that the switches are still available but I will check it out today!!!
I'm surprised the switches are still available from GM. They are available from the aftermarket providers. You should thank Bubba for not cutting the original wiring.
My door ajar light comes on in my car when the headlights are raising. Other than that the light does nothing else. The only pins in my door are the interior lights and alarm.
sigforty - Since the 'headlamps' warning light (lights when the headlights are not up - goes off when they are in place) is just below the door ajar one, I'd say it looks like bubba has connected the headlight wires to the wrong warning light behind your upper console. As for the door ajar light, you should have a single hole that has threads inside with a pop rivet head on either side near the bottom of both of the rear doorjambs where the door latches. This is where these switches, which break the connection and turn the light off when the plunger is pushed by the door being closed, are installed. Good luck! :seeya
The most unbelievable stuff is still available from Chevrolet! :yesnod: I don't know who is in charge of what stays available at GM, but I'm glad they still have A/C brackets for a '69 427 :D I always check there first.
The 68-73 rear door pin switches and the 1974 and up until maybe 82 are still avaliable from GM. If your parts guy says no he just dosen't want to look. Thad :smash:
