Default Need help with distributor date code

I have a 1970 454 4spd Corvette that has the wrong distributor. The books say it should be a number 1111464. My 70 was made in March of 1970. There is one 1111464 distributor on Ebay now with a date code of 5L12, and there is a 1111464 distributor ID band on Ebay with a date code of 8H6. Neither of these date codes make any sense to me as they appear to be Nov. 12 1965 and Aug. 6 1968. Perhaps I am not decoding these properly. Please help.

First digit is calender year, second letter is the month ('A'= January 'B'=Feb and so on) last 2 digits are the day of the month. so 5L12 is November 12, 1965 just as you said BUT my Corvette by the Numbers book says 1111464 was for a 1970 454/390HP. Somethings not right.

Corvette by the Numbers also says to check the distributor characteristics to determine what decade it is made ... So, to me, that says they may be Nov 12, 1975 and Aug 6, 1978 respectively ... maybe service replacements??

Dont fall for it ,there are several dist. on there now that are not right. The one that says it is a 1111464 has a hole behind the small tach gear-thats not correct-the housing is wrong.I cant see "6" clear enough to be sure it is a 6.These tags can come from non-tach drive dist.-non-Corvette.....Be Careful-If you want to build a dist. for your car I have several no-hole castings.

Thanks for your input. I just purchased this car and it has a good distributor that works fine, it is just a 1971 350 distributor #11112050. I started looking around to see if any 1111464 distributors might be on Ebay and found the two I mentioned.
