How in the world do I get the counter shaft out, everything else is out, also I read previous posts that the imput shaft is something of a pain to get out, something to do with a seal iirc. With the counter shaft on the tail side a woodruff key is stuck in it and I cannot figure how to get this S.O.B. out. please help.
we did some beating but stopped when there was no apparent progress, beating on the shaft with a brass plug and a hammer from the engine side of the tranny.
Well, either keep beating or bring it to a place with a press. It has to go out the backside. The counter shaft is slightly larger in Diameter on the backside by the woodroofe key, maybe the last half inch. The woodroffe key only keeps the shaft from spinning, it's not holding the shaft from coming out unless maybe the key is half out and jamming on the case. You are in the right direction, it's just being stubborn.
Should come out from the back. Maybe not to clear in the pic, but the key comes out when the shaft moves away from the case. I used a brass drift and a BIG hammer.
there is a groove at the end of the shaft in the casing, i can see part of the woodruff key, it appear to have turned a little bit and there is a small gap as if the key has shifted a little bit.
