Default 17"wheels

I am planning to put 17 x 8" wheels on my 72 due to the fact there are no good tires in 15". I am looking at Cragar SS and American Racing Torque thruster. Any one had experience with either (Caliper clearance) or other suggestions would be good also.

Thanks

17x8 4" backspacing ARE TTll's you should not have any caliper contact issues

You have 18"s on the back right?! Is the only thing you had to do was move the e-brake bracket?

I put on 18X10s with a 5.5 backspace. Stock trailing arms, relocated Ebrake cable. The spring is 1 inch shorter on each side and Ihad to remove the rear sway bar. Other than that the 18X10s with a 275 40 18 fit great.

i have a simular setup as Gordonm but with double offset trailing arms and a different spring rate rear spring. with the offset arms, the e-brake bracket comes relocated already. with stock arms you will need to relocate the brackets. you will also need a shorter spring with the offset or stock arms

Gordonm... how is your rear spring working out and does the higher spring rate benefit handling without the rear swaybar installed?

I have 17x9.5 '92 vette rims keeping same wheel centerline as stock, which meant moving the ebrake around, but what was more curious is I cleared both VBP aftermarket, and now a stock sway bar by about 3/8-1/2 inch....275/50/17 tires have taller profile therefore wider bulge, NO??

Yes stock calipers

The 420# spring is working fine. Actuallyabout 415 according to VB. It rides no harsher than the 330 spring and it handles as good if not better. I have not had it at an autoX yet but hope to next year.

I have 17's on all 4 corners with stock trailing arms and calipers. No issues. Tires are 255/45/17. Perfect fit.
