I have issues with the car starting when the motor is hot. Does anyone know of a good replacement starter? Aparently this is a major design flaw in the gm starter.
Get a GM mini starter and be done with it. Smaller and lighter and I have never had any starter issues since I installed it 5 years ago. It is used on many GM vehicles and you can find one new or rebuilt.
I used a new full-size starter, heat wrap, AND a shield and it still got hot. Don't waste money on anything. Get a mini-starter and be done with it. My exhaust runs right by the starter and it's fine. The mini's are the way to go.
I have to agree to go with the mini starter. I had all the same problems and used a heat shield and wraps ect.Alot of the problems come from the wires gettin cooked from being too close to the exhaust.
The mini has more power and alot more room for routing wires away from the heat.It never drags, skips, or acts weak.I also liked the weight savings.(I could hold it up and bolt it in with no fatigue or fight for space. It's been on for over two years so far and has always worked flawless! (It even turns it over with a weak battery)
