"Pinks" = I dont get it
That show sux...
Unfortunately for me my TiVo unit records it automatically. So, daily I have to manually erase it from the hard drive.
But, remember that the shows producers must've accomplished their mission...Because we are actually talking about it.

Alot of these cars were 11 and 12 second street cars. That was pretty darn fast in the 70's. I saw 2 guys run for Pink slips, we called it title for title. I saw a guy lose a big block camaro to a 340 duster.
We would mark the 1/4 mile with our cars on rarely traveled area on the interstate and someone would set them off like you see in the show with lowering their hands. I probably saw 100 races but only 2 of them ended up with guys losing their cars to the other. I thought it was crazy to chance losing your car ,but kind of ballsy at the same time. It wasn't the best 2 out of 3 like in the show. It was a single race. The premise of Pinks is good and if you watch it just to see street racers pushing their home built machines down the track then it is pretty enjoyable.

Yeap, saw that one. Went up against a really nice '68 Firebird with a Lenco. Both cars were extremely nice. They noted the Camaro at like 620+ hp while the Firebird was like 540+. Both launched wheels up! There were plenty of bucks out there on that show. They were easy $40K+ cars.
Also, saw the one with the two fox body mustangs. One was an all out drag car (no interior), while the other was pretty hot, but looked fairly benign. They said that the looser's car is going on e-pay after the winner thrashes it for a while.
Both of these shows (especially the Camaro/Firebird) were touted as "their best ever" shows. Much theatrics, but holds some interest. I guess it depend on what's running and if there is nothing else on as to whether I watch it.
I agree that they should use the tree. Give 'em 5 runs to work out their times/problems and do a bracket race. The host can still jump up and down and push the button that starts the tree. As I recall from watching NHRA, the guy that always started the tree recently retired, was much celebrated, and had started more races than anyone. (Probably about all of them across the country.)
And of course. because they dont run the tree, no times or speeds are given for the runs (and no reaction times). So you only get a general sense, which is a bummer.

Show is kind of cheesy but I still like it.
Matter in fact it comes on tonight.

Pinks shot 3 shows at Heartland Park Topeka on oct 7 2006. wWe saw this guy loose this car. A 9 second big block 73. Jim Evans lost to a 10 second 64 Malibu after blowing the motor. Someone said that the looser gets something for being on the show, Yeah, an empty garage. Its real.

One shot heads up and that was it.
That is just too funnyI agree he looks goofy the way he starts races
I did like the episode where they ran for money, I think more people would watch it if they did more of those
