Default Another G force Calculation

OK, with my last question there was many different opinions and answers. And by the way some very great answers.

Can you help with my '79 Corvette?

The 1/4 mile time is 12.29 at 112.2 mph with my best 60 foot time of 1.82 seconds. The car weighs 3640 with me in it.

And once again thanks for the help!

Indy

The only question I see is "Can you help with my '79 Corvette?". I think you know the answer to that.

If you want the g force using your figures from above, you have to understand (from your previous question), that g force is a rate of change calculation. G forces at 100ft could be different than those at 500ft, maybe not.

Again, if you want to find the average g force due to acceleration it is 32ft/sec/sec.

1.82 sec 60 ft time gives you 1.13 Gs, average acceleration over that 60ft distance. Doesn't matter how heavy the car is. Nice time!

Although not a text book equation, the simplified equation seems to be:
A = ((d/t)/t) / 32 * 2

Going one step further and figuring average acceleration for the first 60'.
A = 3.75 /t^2 (note this is for 60' only)

Plug in the numbers from this thread and the first thread and check the results. No need to get one of Nasa's super computers to figure it out.

And no I am not an engineer, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn last year.

I put the equation into a spreadsheet!
