Windshield installation. - How much urethane caulk?...
I'm almost ready to set the windshield. I'm going to use urethane. My question is.... How much urethane caulk will I need? I do not plan to use the 3/8" butyl tape, just small rubber shims to allow the windshield to set at the correct depth.
I have one 10.5 fl. oz. tube of 3M Windo-Weld Super Fast Urethane. Will this be enough to do the job?
You will still need about 3/8". Is that tube like the size of a normal caulk tube. When my WS was replaced it took about 1/2- 3/4 a tube (I think) of sealant.

You would do yourself a large favor by using the tape to set the windshield. It won't be the correct height in relationship to the outer trim if you only use urethane caulk. Get the correct tape kit for your year model and have at it. Been there...
I'm leaning toward using urethane caulk because it is much stronger than the butyl tape. I'm hoping that this will enable the windshield to serve as a structural member of the frame much like modern cars. Our flexy-flier-C3's need all the help they can get.
As stated in my first post, I plan on using shims to elevate the windshield flush with the trim.
I'm going to purchase another tube of caulk to have on stand-by.
I used a little bit over 1 tube the last time I did one. Set the rubber spacers, set the glass, install the trim to check for fit, if fit is OK remove the trim, remove the glass, shoot out urethane, set glass, and you're good to go.
