Which alternator should I use?
I'm planning on a new crate engine next month and want to replace my alternator as well as I have a new stereo that draws more amps. I would like to go with a chrome unit. Any vendors or amp recommendations?

I'm looking for a pair of chrome CS130s too, so if you find a good dealer or location, let me know. I know a few places that will chrome plate a couple cases plus fans and pulleys for $100.

Looks good. I have an SI 135 amp chrome alt that I took out when I went to a CS130. I'll sell it you for $75. I think it works well as is...only in use for a few months, but I would suggest a rebuild kit which is usually only $35 or so.

Once you find an alternator that you like (for example chrome plated), there are alternator vendors on the internet that sell upgrade kits to increase the amperage output of your alternator. There have been previous posts here that cited websites for the alternator upgrade kits. Maybe use the forum Search function.

I don't know that I trust the JCW brand upgrade kits. I would get one from a reputable alternator shop online.
